What Is Discovery?
Discovery is the formal legal process of exchanging information between spouses. It ensures both sides have access to:
- Financial records and asset information
- Evidence relevant to custody issues
- Documentation about debts and obligations
- Any information needed to fairly resolve the divorce
Discovery prevents surprises and helps ensure fair settlements.
Discovery is mandatory in contested divorces and optional (but recommended) in uncontested cases.
